# FAQ

## Do I need coding knowledge?

**No.** The AI page builder and visual editor let you create responsive sites through chat and point-and-click edits. Prefer local React files and git? Use the [CLI](/developer/your-first-site) ([Dashboard vs CLI](/guides/dashboard-vs-cli)). Developers can also use the [client SDK](/api-reference/sdk/overview) and [MCP](/developer/connect-mcp) for agents.

## How is Webstorio different from other AI website builders?

Webstorio includes a **production backend from day one** — CMS, database, forms, store, auth, APIs, and hosting. Many AI builders only output front-end prototypes you still have to host and wire up yourself.

## What backend features are included?

**Webstorio features** — website management, branding, page management, visual editor, SEO, analytics, and hosting — are built into the platform. **Website features** you can enable per project include CMS, forms, online store, user authentication, and App Data. AI agents can manage project data through the [MCP server](/developer/connect-mcp).

## Can I use my own domain?

**Yes** — on Starter plan and above. Connect DNS at your registrar; Webstorio provides free SSL. Free plan sites use `my-site.webstor.io`.

## How long does it take to launch?

Most users go from signup to a live site in **under 30 minutes**: create a project, design a page with AI, publish the page, publish the website.

## Is there a free plan?

**Yes.** Free forever, no credit card — ideal for a simple link directory, invitation, or single-page site (1 website, 1 page, basic CMS, 5 AI credits/month). **Starter** is the plan to try everything Webstorio offers: custom domain, forms, online store, and more pages.

## How do AI credits work?

Credits are consumed when you use AI features (mainly the page builder). \~1 credit per chat message on average; complex tasks use more. Monthly allowance depends on your plan; unused credits don't roll over.

## Can I export my site if I leave?

You own your content and data. Export options (code, content, database) are available by contacting support. Webstorio is designed so you typically don't need to self-host — but you're not locked in.
